Square is a mobile payment processing platform co-founded by the same gentleman who co-founded Twitter so that's saying something about the leadership. We are currently using Square as a secondary payment processor and it works great. We have had to use it when customers were not comfortable using the ecommerce functionality on our website but were comfortable with us processing it on their behalf as we did their delivery so it works great in this regard. I am impressed how easy it is to sign up and have them send you one of their credit card readers. Or you can pick one up locally if you live in a large of city. It cannot really be any simpler unless you could 3D print yourself so it's cool to be so empowered as a small business. And the fees with Square are outstanding compared to nearly every other payment processor out there because they only have you pay one transaction fee per sale. Almost every other would have you have this plus other fees too to cover this and that, you know how credit based companies work so aggressively to grow revenue from as many micro-transactions as possible. But it's not the case using Square which is awesome. Personally I have never had a reason to contact them for support as everything worked fine out of the box and I do not recall if my business partner has had to do so at this moment. But nonetheless I would take this into consideration and test it prior to making this payment processor your primary setup. Though there the good majority of positive reviews which seem to be from businesses which are using it as their primary payment system. I would be inclined to move forward quite easily for it be our primary payment processor simply because of our success using it thus far on a limited scale yet still a viable trial run I would say. And because I believe in the leadership to be world class and feel they understand their priority to be the user experience overall, and that any customer support issues will eventually a thing of the past, and they will likely see a nice surge in business when those negative opinions based on customer support have changed, but in my opinion there is very little else to dislike about it. It's pretty much a no brainer as a small business person to use Square even if it's not your primary point of sale. It can allow you to have a backup system which has no additional costs to it other than when you make a sale. No contracts. No setup fees and you don't even have to pay for their hardware. The ability to sell gift cards from your device is a cool plus. This is another way to easily setup an additional revenue channel.

You mean you have to wait for up to ten days to receive your reader? What no free over night shipping?! This is outrageous. I'm just kidding it's not an issue at all actually because they're doing so much to help you free of charge already. And you can take manual payments for ten days, or perhaps it's just a secondary payment system similar to our situation in that case it's really nothing to consider at all. I have heard there can be issues with customer support being slow though that they have added a phone support line in addition to the email and social media it was exclusively in the past. Personally though I have had no reason to utilize their support at all as of yet.

I think it's slightly amusing that it seems the majority of poor reviews you read about this setup are about how Square takes a percentage of your sales but that's their business model. Though it is good to monitor your fees and research the best options once you reach a certain volume so I can respect where this is coming from. Meanwhile I say just do it, it's empowering at the very least to be setup to take credit cards anytime. This possibility can spark the notion that can launch your new product or service even if it's something small you're selling from home. As long as you have as much value as possible in your offer and reach out to the right audience along with having the ability to fulfill and support your customers you will experience being able to take payments on the spot and it's a nice option to have.
