I have looking to discover the best digital asset management system for my photographer client to help him out and I believe we've found it in this one which is great. It's open source to begin with which is terrific. You have to be somewhat tech savvy to install it yourself but that can be done very inexpensively if not. Though I also signed up for a free trial which includes 1gb of storage and I couldn't find anywhere that stated it would expire so that's perhaps the best news as 1gb of photos is quite a lot. It's web based so you can have access on any device from laptop to tablet or smartphone which is good news. Upon logging in to the account for the first time I found it to be very intuitive to learn and begin using right away. I was able to upload a photo seamlessly with a simple upload from my desktop, and actually get my head around all of the functionality immediately. You can use a batch function to upload multiple digital assets at once. The search function is easy to use with a number of filters to narrow it down quickly. You're able to preview and download images in various sizes. You can easily share digital assets or export them to Youtube or Flickr. And export slideshows, documents or video to Wordpress, Joomla or Drupal content management systems. You can utilize audio and video players inside the software to preview them. There is a reporting feature as well and you can enable this to be automatically delivered to your email address. There are user roles and permissions you can grant as well if you have sensitive assets which you need to control by a number of variables such as metadata, usergroup, per resource or a combination of them. It's also a very international based software available in twenty languages currently and it's easy to add more it states.

There is not much to dislike about an open source software which you can use freely and modify in any way you need to do so. The pricing for their premium service is not inexpensive but it's on par with other premium DAM services or slightly lower, they are transparent about it and there is a lot of value offered which I can appreciate as I've recently checked out a DAM with less value and a request that you contact them to learn about their pricing.

This is almost certainly the digital asset management software I will recommend highest to my photographer colleague. I believe he will be thrilled with the value and pricing of this option. Perhaps I will survey a couple others just to be sure but I don't see how it could be improved for his needs. Either the download and install, or the apparently free forever trial could serve him very well. The feature set is solid and it would be incredibly easy to use even if you've never used a DAM previously. This software is rare in terms of value and I highly recommend checking it out.
