MailGun is an email service for developers which is states is their primary objective. This company specializes in allow you to connect your domain to use to send marketing or transactional emails from which is great. I have used other software which I integrated with our database to send custom branded emails both for marketing to our list and transactional purposes in the past. None of those solutions was stable and reliable enough for sustainable growth. MailGun solves this problem in its tracks instantly. There is a free forever plan available with no credit card required and you can use it to send up to ten thousand emails per month which is terrific. There are very few limitations with the exception being that you can not retrieve historical data logs beyond two days rather than thirty for their premium plan. But you can still send email for up to five domains in the free plan so that's a lot of value. And the premium plans are quite affordable as well considering they are doing a massive amount of work up front that ensures your deliverability will be consistently good. And this is no small feat for any email service provider. Ensuring the authentication infrastructure is sound as well as your IP registration and domain registration along with ESP compliance through a verifiable history is just some of the work this company does for you so you can get going quickly. The user interface makes good use of the space available and is easy enough to navigate around and started using immediately. You can view all of your traffic in your back-end with reporting analytics and is quite intuitive to use. Using an API doesn't get any simpler than this. They have got you covered in some cool ways that make this the simplest possible process which is awesome. MailGun is a software as a service offered by RackSpace which is an enterprise level web and application hosting environment so you can be assured their email service based on their experience with databases and email configuration is going to be top notch. The pricing is surprisingly affordable in my opinion considering RackSpace is one of the more costly hosting companies. I honestly thought they would be charging more for this service and am even slightly surprised there is a free forever account available.

The logs are only stored for a couple of days with the free account which isn't great yet fair enough as it's still some incredible value and I am basically filling up space here at the moment. There is certainly a learning curve involved in order to use this email solution. It's not for anyone not comfortable with coding though if you're a passionate learner and self starter you will figure it out. The question remains if that is the most productive use of your time or is hiring an expert the more practical option. And with it an investment to consider which can effect your situation and should be kept in mind.

So far, MailGun makes this an easy choice in terms of its ease of use together with its flexibility and extensibility. Judging by the quality of some of their clients the reliability and scalability of your campaigns is not going to be an issue, and also by their reputation online when researching the market, together with their overall features and functionality makes this a very powerful email solution for branded marketing and transactional based emailing.
