DataCAD

DataCAD is a widely underestimated design and drafting software that has been in the market for a few decades. If you do research into this software online you'll find many long time professionals have been using this software and have only amazing things to say about it which was a significant reason I was drawn to download their community version and learn more hands on, as I've been doing research into the market lately and was curious to see how it stacked up against AutoCAD and SketchUp in particular. It turns out it you can integrate SketchUp projects which is awesome. The software is easy to download and get going within a few minutes. It's a very easy to understand dashboard and functionality is intuitive to use. It's also very robust with the level of features and customization possible. This software facilitates creativity which is always something I enjoy and the tools make it relatively easy to turn your idea and make it into a reality. It's vastly easier to use this software than AutoCAD. It's along the lines of SketchUp in turns of simplicity and professional features but because DataCAD integrates with SketchUp now you're getting the best of both which made me very happy to learn. There are multiple ways to do a lot things too so it's not rigid in terms of learning. You can play and learn as you go while discovering new ways to do familiar tasks in multiple ways which can lead to a very streamlined, efficient workflow. It would be relatively easy to train others to use DataCAD which is another benefit. Rather, it would be easy to empower other to learn it for themselves because it is that enjoyable and a self evident tool to learn. This program really helps make it easy to turn your 2d drawings into 3d models and the content works great for multiple purposes beyond the design itself. The community for DataCAD is good size group of passionate users many of which have been using it since it's inception in 1984. I'm talking about some of the most passionate software users in the world. These folks have incredible experience and experiences with this software and I like knowing that. I've only read great things about their customer support though I've not had a reason to experience it yet. In fact, some of the stories you'll find about their customer support are inspiring and I don't say that lightly. I'm talking about uncommonly helpful, sincere, friendly technical help with your issues and I always like hearing it this consistently when considering whether to invest in a software, or not.

What's up with the DataCAD website? lol It's not a big deal and respect they musn't give a hoot about other perception of their brand because they know under the hood it's awesome and so be sure not to judge the book by it's cover. Though I do believe it is in their best interest to modernize their website in order to appeal to a younger generation, and first time users who may not know much about how to look under the hood yet, so choose the industry standard like AutoCAD because everyone else seems too. Not because it is necessarily the best or most user friendly.

This software works out of the box even for the uninitiated in the industry. I'm just exploring my options and would design my future home. I'm willing to take years to learn how and part of this process means exploring the software options that best help me to learn efficiently and produce professional results. So far, DataCAD rivals SketchUp in terms of facilitating the creative element which I like while using any software. This together with the overall ease of use and robust features that provide virtually unlimited design choices, it's an obvious reliable choice and I'm seriously considering purchasing a license.
