Confluence

Confluence is a cloud based collaborative software which helps you to work on projects with your team, share content and creative, as well as store files and documents nice and easy. You can use a lot of pre-made templates provided in Confluence which save you a lot of time and that's always great. It used to take a good time investment to get this much done for an project outline. Now I can just pop a template in and have a solid core project structure which I can build on from there and not have to create from scratch. You can create multiple dashboards which they call spaces for each of your departments which is good so you can have one for support, for sales, for planning the Christmas party or what have you. You can create pages within these spaces for each of your update streams so it's nice to have multiple streams and spaces when you have a lot of teams collaborating. I've used Jira in the recent so I was interested in learning what differentiates the two. I like that all of the Atlassian products are able to work together. You can keep an eye on a lot of things by using Confluence like as wiki tool. There's a lot of configuration possible in your account which is great to be able to create an exceptional workflow. It's definitely a development related platform there's a robust feature set that can be tweaked in many different ways. The user interface itself is quite easy to understand and begin working with on a basic level but once again it's going to take a bit to know the absolute best paths to take in order to use all of the functionality available to you quickly. I like that you can follow pages and uses tags in your comments so these topics can easily be found. The calendaring feature is also quite good. You can create calendars and event for each of your spaces. It's also easy to create a road map for your entire project which I like a lot. I like that home page also provides you with a way to see everything at a glance. There is definitely increased productivity and efficiency possible by using Confluence but it's going to take a bit to get used to and setup the most optimal workflows. The pricing is clear and there's Confluence works with their other SAAS as well which is great. There's a free trial available so you have no reason no to check it out to see if it's the best for you.

It's going to take some time to create your best workflow using Confluence in the sense that there are a lot of things to setup and adapt in order to truly get it down. Which is a time investment and definitely worthwhile but it's good to be aware of while moving ahead. It's not difficult to learn overall it's actually very well setup though seems to lack some of the advanced task routing and project management features in Jira which makes sense as it meant to compliment it but it's too bad you need another software at all to create an effective learning and resource community space for wiki type information but for those companies with many projects and teams it could perhaps be much more viable. It's tough to justify a monthly price for anything unless you've done complete due diligence and eliminated the options which aren't monthly costs. The pricing is clear and plans include multiple users so it's not like the cost is for one user, per month like another competitor which I've recently learned about.

The ability to work in a remote team in real time is made possible by using a software as a service such as Confluence. The mobile access is great because it's based in the cloud so you can have a lot more flexibility and stay in sync much easier with it. There is a cool combination of services which work well together by Atlassian. If you're already using Jira than it's going to be a no brainer for you to integrate Confluence when you projects are big enough that you require an internal education and wiki like resource as a knowledge home base across teams and projects as that is what Confluence does best.
