What was the best part about using ChargeBee?
It's a hosted subscription, billing, invoicing and payments software as a service all rolled into one. The dashboard is extremely simple and easy to work with. Easy to learn and intuitive to use. There is a lot of customization under the hood when you start exploring your account. The amount configuration is quite impressive and makes it really easy to take recurring income. As a start up having just officially launched, we have a real reason to consider the various payment platforms currently and find ChargeBee to be unique in their market.
If you've ever setup a membership based website you'll know it's not the simplest thing to do. A robust, fully functional multiple tiered subscription based payment system is a valuable asset that is well earned by doing your research and bringing together several components such as your domain, hosting, content management system, email marketing platform, membership software, ecommerce software and tie it together securely for your customers peace of mind to a payment vendor is a feat. There are varying degrees of complexity available but one of the easiest things to do is use something like ChargeBee which enables you to basically do everything you need to take membership sales and other payment types too like today or tomorrow instead of a week which turns into two and then three and so on in terms of development in self hosted system like Wordpress and Wishlist for example, or whichever, substitute any self installed CMS and membership combination you want. ChargeBee is going to be easier at the end of the day.
I like the ability to set up a hosted payment page and simply refer your clients to it. If it's a recurring subscription it's still a one time process in the sense it's set up to take care of payments monthly for you. There are options available in your settings to handle payments which do not go through as well which is good. You can take care of this issue in a number of ways. I like that you can sync to MailChimp so to enable an auto-responder which allows you to create a relationship with your subscribers by following up with educational or marketing material. The Zapier integration is huge too, so you can easily integrate to over five hundred different apps.
What would you change about your experience with ChargeBee?
I have nothing negative to say about this recurring billing platform. I took notes during my trial a few months ago and circled around to learn that they have a Wordpress plugin which I didn't notice at that time. As well as a program for startup companies in which they will absorb their fees for our businesses first fifty thousand dollars of revenue. That is a real selling point I have not seen during my intensive research thus far and I am impressed.
Overall Feedback
There is no per transaction fee to use ChargeBee which is one of the greatest benefits to using it. I'm familiar with others charge per transaction but your monthly covers subscriptions which are fair. It's not a combined fee and this is made clear in their FAQ. The ability to sell products or services quickly is the main benefit. If you've set up a membership website that is self hosted it can certainly be done within a day if you're savvy enough but that doesn't include your website content unless you have it all prepared to basically copy and paste into it after your membership is set up. Setting up a simple single tiered membership is actually okay but it gets tricky when you're adding multiple services, upsells, tiers and specials. It all has to be seamless so your customers can login to their account easily, and secure in their payment merchant when passing sensitive information such as this online. ChargeBee makes this really easy and with their free forever plan there is no financial risk. There's a huge return on investment possible by using it and I recommend doing so.
