I've been into BrightEdge solutios and application because of their problem solving approach and their support. BrightEdge helped us to rank higher and to do better SEO work for our website. They have features that are not seen on SEOmoz which a standard in the industry like : Domain Comparison, Keyword suggestion , link analysis and management. And it can be integrated to many tools like Google Analytics, Webtrends, Coremetrics and so on. I guess this is very handy.

Local search engines are only available based on demand so you don't have access to cities or states where you may have customers. Also it takes time to learn and tweak the platform and take decision against other services from competitors. Their dashboard doesn't expand to the width of the screen which can be annoyoing. I would suggest they work more on UX. The recommendations you wil get on this platform is so basic like meta Title , H1 even after you have worked on them. BrightEdge documentation sometimes isn't so helpful and can lack.

I personally could suggest other SEO tools other then BrightEdge. But BrightEdge can be helpful for a small business. You still can do SEO manually without investment into SEO TOOLS. So define your strategy and comeback check softwares that fits your need. One of good features they offer is the ability to choose from many search engines.
