Adobe RoboHelp

I've have testing various authoring recently and was curious to learn more about Adobe's version which has been around a long time. The biggest difference from others so far is the integration of responsive and adaptive HTML5 which is the upgrade from XML and older HTML. This helps allow search engines to index your content which is not possible in the older formats. And you can still use these browser based outputs as well. There is also support for CSS3 enabled. The Resource Manager is another solid feature which allows you to share files between various projects easily in the cloud using Dropbox, Google Drive and others which is an advantage over it's competition. It allows you to utilize embedded images, snippets which can used over and over, defined headers and footers, color schemes and multiple file output formats. Adobe has great educational resources to help you learn their software more efficiently including a reviewer's guide, forums, knowledge base, video tutorials and more.

The user interface is certainly feature packed and there is a learning curve involved to using it proficiently though Adobe has a great resources to help you learn in various ways which are helpful. It's quite a large download at nearly one gigabyte as a compressed file so best to ensure you have the local resources and a suitable internet connection available prior to downloading.

The mobile responsive, adaptive outputs allowing for effective content displayed across browsers and devices along with the cloud based resource sharing give this authoring tool an advantage over the others I've tried recently. One you're familiar with how to use this software efficiently it will streamline your efficiency, increase your workflow productivity and enable much greater consistency compared with technical writing in the old fashioned sense with manual formatting and so on.
